After five years in occupation in its Kingley Street offices, BBH took the decision to expand into an adjacent grade II listed building at the rear of its existing offices in Soho. Urban Salon was commissioned to fit out the extension and ensure that it was integrated with the main building and to connect the two buildings.
The adjacent building is a five storey building where none of the floor levels line up with the main building. Our solution was to use bridges spanning across the lightwell between the buildings in order to link the two buildings and to accommodate the change in level between the buildings. The additional 700m2 office space houses a range of functions including an attic-level recording studio, three video-editing suites, meeting rooms, catering facilities and an open-plan office space which is used as a research facility and library.

The extension uses a different palette of materials from the main building and has its own mix of colours - largely greens, browns and blues. Each floor has its own colour identity to help with orientation.
Spaces are broken up with frameless glazed partitions, maximising transparency. These partitions have manifestations featuring words chosen by the staff.
The budget for the project was 800,000. The construction was completed in May 2007.
